TEXAS CITY — Rena Marguerite Benton, 87, of Texas City, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 27, 2010, at her residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Benton was born December 30, 1922, in Abbeville, Louisiana. She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, John W. "Red" Benton and Kerney Nunez; brother Raymond Guidry, Sr.; and sister Ruby Fontenot.
Survivors include her children Ramona Benton of Galveston and Genevieve Benton Loveless and husband James of Kerrville, Texas; granddaughter Lindsay Lea Loveless, who was the joy of her life "Joie De Vivre", of Kerrville; eight nephews and five nieces; sister Lilly McDonagh and husband John of Hanahan, South Carolina.
Pallbearers are Raymond Guidry Jr., Gary Guidry, Troy Guidry, Mark Fontenot, Chris Fontenot, and Terry Fontenot. Honorary pallbearers are John Ringer, Al Bourgeois, Bernie David, Lynn Langlinais, Robert Guidry, and Kevin McDonagh.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice Care Team for their loving care and support given to Rena and her family.
