LA MARQUE — Reverend Ben A. 'Pete' Reeves went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Wednesday evening, November 3, 2004.

Born February 3, 1912, near Coolidge in Limestone County, Texas, Brother Reeves had served God over 60 years as a minister. He pastored in Taylorsville, Bay City, Clawson and Clute before coming to Arcadia in 1963, where he had served as Pastor of Santa Fe First Assembly of God Church for 17 years. He then retired and moved to Lufkin where he was a senior citizen's pastor for 18 years before returning to Santa Fe 4 years ago.

Preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Weta Reeves, survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Doyce and Joyce Reeves of Santa Fe; daughters and son-in-law, Neta and Sidney Watson of Dickinson, Rita Coe of Falcon Heights; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Sidney Watson and the Rev. Paul Vincent, officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Alan Cox, Billy Phillips, Dustin Phillips, Royce Phillips, Chris Watson and Travis Watson.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.

ARCADIA - Mrs. Weta Reeves passed from this life Monday evening, April 12, 2004, in Texas City.

Born December 14, 1917, in Munger, Texas, Mrs. Reeves had been a longtime Arcadia and Lufkin resident. She was a loving and dedicated pastor's wife, mother, and grandmother and was devoted not only to her family but also to her church family. A member of Santa Fe First Assembly of God Church, Mrs. Reeves enjoyed and will be remembered for her exceptional cooking and her sweet spirit.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Crawford Brigance; mother, Josie Catherine Holman Barrington and stepfather, Elmer Barrington.

Survivors include her husband of over 69 years, B. A. "Pete" Reeves of La Marque; son and daughter-in-law, Doyce and Joyce Reeves of Santa Fe; daughters and son-in-law, Reta Coe of Falcon Heights, Texas, Neta and Sidney Watson of Dickinson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita and Ben A. Jordan of Bryan, Geneva and Bob Ratliff of Colorado City, Texas, Birdie Jo Weaver of Dawson, Texas, eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Vincent, Rev. Roger Bailey and Rev. Sidney Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Alan Cox, Paul Jackson, Dustin Phillips, Royce Phillips, Chris Watson and Travis Watson. Honorary casketbearers will be Rev. Bob Lewis, Billy Phillips and John Retano.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX, (409) 925-3501.
