TEXAS CITY - Harry H. Polkinghorne, 77, of Texas City, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Tessmanh officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Emken-Linton Funeral Home.

Mr. Polkinghorne was born September 19, 1925, in Galveston, Texas. He was a retired land surveyor for Galveston County. He was an avid fisherman and self-taught craftsman in jewelry and woodworking. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the V.F.W.

He served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII in the 101st Airborne Division. He enjoyed and loved bis
family very much.

He is preceded in death by his father Harry H. Polkinghorne, Sr.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years Myrtle Polkinghorne of Texas City; mother Laura Polkinghorne of Texas City; son Joseph E. Townsend and wife Eileen of La Marque; daughters Martha Lozica and husband Bobby of Houston and Susan Everitt and husband Jim of Rio Verde, Arizona; grandchildren, Mitchell L. Everitt, Tracy L. Everitt, Suzanne Thiem, Joseph L. Townsend, Laura Thurman, Flo Goodwin, Elizabeth Townsend, and Zachary Townsend; greatgrandchildren: Peyton Goodwin, Morgan Everitt, Aubrey Goodwin, Henry Thurman, and Sadie Thurman; brother Joe Polkinghorne and wife Frances of Santa Fe, Texas; sister Mary Crumpton of Santa Fe,
Texas; nieces and nephews: Cheryl Dennis, Judy Quijano, Diane Branin, Lena Botelle, Betty McDaniel, Laura Kay Polkinghorne, and Jimmy Foy.

Pallbearers will be Joseph E. Townsend, Zachary Townsend, Drew Thurman, Joseph L. Townsend, Bobby Lozica, and Darrell Davis.
