Funeral services for Billy Ray Taylor, 71, of Levelland will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at the Fifth St. Baptist Church in Levelland with the Rev. Roy Prather, pastor, and Ronald Valentine, of Sundown, officiating. Burial will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home.

He died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Covenant Hospital in Levelland. Born April 16, 1934 in Rosebud, he moved to Hockley County in 1935. He married Frances Rumbaugh June 30, 1953 in Levelland. He was actively engaged in agriculture for many years - farming and raising cattle. He was a warehouseman for the Levelland Compress and retired after 50 years. He was a member of the Fifth St. Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Frances Taylor of Levelland; two sons and their wives, Steve and Paula Taylor of Levelland, and Rick and Deedee Taylor of Midland; a daughter, Susan Willis of Garden City; two sisters, Bonnie Johnson of Levelland and of W illcox, Ariz., and Mildred Veretto of Levelland; eight grandchildren, Stephanie and Brad Nations, Nick, Craig, Christina and Alicia Taylor, all of Lubbock, Judi and Chris Moore of Sachse, and Logan and Taylor Willis of Garden City; and two special companions, Heidi and Raider.
