TEXAS CITY - Services for Ethel O'Hara, 79, a retired horticulturist, will be 2 p.m. today at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, the Rev. John McKay officiating. Burial will be at Grace Memorial Park in Alta Loma.
Ms. O'Hara died Thursday at Danforth Memorial Hospital in Texas City. She was born Jan. 30,1903, in Palestine. Texas, and was a longtime Texas City resident. A lifetime member of the Texas City Garden Club, Ms. O'Hara also was a member of the American Hemerocallis Society, the Houston Hemerocallis Society, the Texas City Heritage Society and Nortiiside Baptist Church of Texas City.
Survivors include: two daughters, Corinne Peace and Virginia Padgett, both of Texas City; a brother. Harvey Smith of Abilene; a sister, Pearl Trice of Abilene; two grandsons. John Peace of Kingwood and Karl Peace of Houston; and two great-grandsons John Peace III and James Peace, both of Baytown.
Pallbearers will be Frank Rich. Ben Hargrove, Chuck Watkins, D.B. Whittington, Louis Densman and Joe Broker.
Visitors may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. today.
