LA MARQUE —James Fredrick Lewis, 79, died Wednesday at Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City.
Private family graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, the Rev. Bob Wedergren officiating.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday, .at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.
Born March 17, 1909, in Charleston, W. Va.
He was a retired shift superintendent for Union Carbide. He resided in La Marque for 48 years, coming to Texas in 1940 to open the Union Carbide plant where he had 43 years of service, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Carbide Pioneer Club and a member of St. Michael Episcopal Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Lewis Scarbrough of Sonoma, Calif.; two sons, Bruce Terry of La Marque and Col. J.D. Terry Jr. who is in Germany with the U.S. Air Force; three sisters, Anna Newdick of La Marque and Susan C. Lewis and Nan Mueller of New Jersey; one brother, Madison Lewis of Charleston, W. Va.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the donor's favorite charity and St. Michael Episcopal Church.
