*Obituary

Blanche Davis Fromm, widow of Dr. Charles Fromm, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 5, 2015 at the age of 101. Born in New York City on December 16, 1913, Blanche was the youngest of six children of Caroline and Hirsch Davis. At the age of 16, she met the love of her life, Charlie Fromm, and in 1934, they were married. Their beautiful marriage lasted for 66 years.

After graduation from Hunter College in New York City, Blanche taught school for many years. In 1943, the couple moved to Dallas where Blanche enjoyed motherhood, playing piano, singing and the arts. She became active in the Doctors Wives Choral and Dramatic Club, acting in plays and productions, and became a substitute teacher for the Dallas Independent School District. Her love of singing led her to become one of the founding members of the Temple Emanu-El choir in 1953, and remained active with the choir until 2007. It was a source of much joy.

After retirement, Blanche was a Temple Emanu-El library volunteer for over 20 years as well as a volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels among other organizations. She was a positive, delightful and generous person with numerous interests who will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.

Blanche was a member of the Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood, National Council of Jewish Women and the Medical Center Women’s Club.

Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles Fromm, Blanche is survived by her children, Bobbi Benson of Burlingame, CA, and Adele Fromm of Plano, grandsons Doug Benson and wife Marci of Burlingame, CA, Greg Benson and wife Kim of Porter Ranch, CA, Eric Sacks of Dallas, and Jeff Sacks of Plano, great-grandsons, Ben Benson, Geran Benson and Skyler Sacks, nephew Dennis Newman and wife Frances of Lake Worth, FL and niece Lori Newman of Orlando, FL.

In lieu of flowers, Blanche’s family would appreciate charitable donations to Temple Emanu-El Music Fund, Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice. Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 7 at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Road, Dallas.
