Guzman, M.D.F.A.C.R. Guillermo Born in Bogata, Colombia on May 5, 1932, and died April 22, 2009. A graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the Universidad National Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City, followed by training with the Servicio Social in Mexico. Dr. Guzman completed his Medical Internship at the Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio and his residences in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas, Texas and Rheumatology at the UT Southwestern Medical Center. Upon his entering private practice, Dr. Guzman volunteered his time and talents at the Arthritis Clinic at Parkland Hospital every Tuesday morning during his entire career. A naturalized citizen, Dr. Guzman loved his adopted country, his family and his patients. An elegant and charming man, he will be missed for his kindness, compassion, and terrific sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Jane; two sons, Guillermo Antonio Guzman, M.D. and his wife, Leslie of Fort Worth, Texas and Jose Bock Guzman of Portland, Oregon; two stepchildren, Robert Charles Goodman of Dallas and Susan Lazarow Cohen; three stepgrandchildren, whom he adored, Ariana Illyse Lazarow, Jared Kenan Lazarow, and Eliana Simone Lazarow; sister, Eleanora Bruce; and a nephew, Gian Carlo Cinquetti of Miami Springs, Florida. The family would like to thank the staff at Signature Pointe on the Lake and Vitas Hospice for the care he received for the last few years. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, April 24, 2009, at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to UT Southwestern Medical Center, P.O. Box 910888, Dallas, Texas 75390-8884 to support the Rheumatic Disease Division or the charity of your choice.
