ELY, EDITH, Was delivered to Jack Kates and Dora Robins the 7th day of January the year 1916. On March 1, 2008 somehow Ms. Edith was offered a chance to reunite with her beloved late husband Carl R. Ely , mid afternoon on a beautiful day to finish the fairy tale they started years ago. In her heart Ms. Edith felt her Carl yearning for his companion partner and that "Canadian Blue eyed Flirty Girl" and went for it and they are together again. Edith lost Carl in 1978 suddenly and unexpectedly in ah...There only surviving son, Robert G. Ely with wife and 1st born daughter were there to help pick up and make it all good. From that moment until today Ms. Edith was blessed with 3 grandchildren a girl 1st and then 2 boys (animals), time past on and Edith Ely succeeded to become a great-grandmother with 3 great-granddaughters one from each of her grandchildren Natasha, Joshua, and R. Jordon Ely. During all this Edith's son Robert sole survivor of Carl and Edith Ely was proud of his parents and there achievements. In 1971 and 1972 Edith taught painting at the YMCA NWH branch and in 1973 was asked to teach at the Richardson Recreation Center. Successfully accomplishing these goals she decided to turn to the workforce in retail sales with a very well known and respectable art gallery store in Dallas until 1987 when she felt it was time to retire and pick up something she adored for years art. Edith Ely found the artist with in herself again which was started back in the fifties when she was extremely fortunate to have studied under some of the greatest teachers in Dallas. In 1986 -1996 Edith enrolled at Brookhaven College were she received her degree with honors. In 1987 Edith entered an art exhibit at the Park Forest Library and received first place on the painting she created, she entered another exhibit in 1987 and won 1st place at the Farmers Branch Library, she also placed at the The One Woman Show. Edith and her late husband were active members and involved with Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, and The Jewish Council of Women. She was also a volunteer with the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts which was her favorite place to visit and just pass the time when she was able to do so. Edith Ely loved the art world and all the enjoyment that it had to offer. She loved art as much as she loved her husband Carl and son Robert. Ms. Edith Ely is survived by one son, Robert G. Ely, and 3 grandchildren which reside in the DFW area , the eldest in Atlanta, Georgia. Edith had 3 sisters Pearl Stone, Ruth Acker and the late Lillian Bernstein. All of Lillian's children live in the Toronto, Canada area where Ms. Edith "The Blue Eyes Flirty Girl" started her wonderful journey of a splendid life for 92 years and 23 days. Edith was always cheerful and joyful everyday, she felt that there was a reason for the last and best achievement within herself, being a volunteer for Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. She enjoyed just being able to be there and help others. Ms. Edith Ely thought it was better to give than to receive and she practiced this throughout her life and this was shown in everything she did. Edith will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and neighbors. She touched the lives of everyone she had been acquainted and associated with throughout her life. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Chapel East of Hillcrest Mausoleum. Dignity Memorial Sparkman Hillcrest 7405 W. Northwest Hwy. Dallas (214) 363-5401
