BURNEYVILLE, Okla. - Roy W. Reese, 77, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, with the Rev. Jeff Raines, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Borger.

Mr. Reese was born in Bokhoma, and was a longtime resident of Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M University with a degree in industrial engineering.

He was a paratrooper in the Army, and a veteran of World War II. He married Peggy Bumgarner on Aug. 22, 1947, in High Point, N.C. She died in 1994.

Mr. Reese retired as vice president of Service Drilling Co. in Borger. He had lived in Borger from 1955 until 1984, when he moved to Falconhead, Okla. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Borger.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Haning of Amarillo; two sons, Dan Reese of Amarillo and Roy Reese Jr. of Midland; a brother, Dan Reese of Tennessee; two sisters, Sarah Taylor of Florida and Wilma Bell of California; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials be to A Time to Share Outreach Project for Senior Adults, P.O. Box 50005, Amarillo, TX 79159; or BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment.

The family will be at 7713 Whippoorwill Lane.

Services for Peggy Reese of Amarillo, Texas, were Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Falconhead Christian Fellowship Chapel with Tom Riley officiating.

Mrs. Reese was born April 29, 1927, at High Point, North Carolina, the daughter of F.A. and Jessie Womac Bumgarner, and died Sunday, April 10 at the Love County Health Center.

She and Roy Reese were married August 22, 1947, at High Point and made their home in Borger, Texas, from 1955 until 1986. They have lived in Amarillo since that time and have also had a home at Falconhead since 1984. Mrs. Reese was a homemaker, a member of the Falconhead Ladies Golf Association and was active in Falconhead activities. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Reese of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy W., Jr. and Cindy Reese of Midland, Texas, and Dan E. and Debbie Reese of Amarillo; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Haning of Amarillo; grandchildren, Thad Reese, Ryan Reese, Ashly Haning, Micheal Austin and Crystal Austin; a brother, Bill Bumgarner of Whiteville, North Carolina; and a sister, Margaret Molden of High Point.

Committal services were held Thursday at 3:30 in Westlawn Cemetery at Borger with Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home directing. Rev. Richard Kasko was the officiating minister. Serving as pallbearers were Tommy Jon Riley, Don Mitchell, Loyd Hawthorne, Hector Favreau, Jay Hancock and Dan Sheehan.
