BORGER — Joe B. Roy, 93, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Borger with Calvin Winters, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch, officiating.

Joe was born July 4, 1921, in Goodnight to Joe Burney Roy Sr. and Euginia Majors Roy. He graduated from Goodnight High School and was an airplane mechanic in the Navy during World War II. Joe retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. Carbon Black plant, where he was a utilityman. He married Tressie L. Honaker Butler Roy on Oct. 24, 1992, in Fritch, where they lived until moving to Ware Living Center in Amarillo. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch.

He enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, electronics, playing the electric bass guitar and playing with his poodle, Champagne.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rob and Major.

Survivors include his wife, Tressie of Amarillo; two sons, Joe Neal Roy of Las Vegas and Tracy Dean Roy of Amarillo; his stepchildren, Thomas and Betty Butler of Amarillo and Marie and Ted Johnston of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson

The family suggests memorials be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174.
