Mildred Louise Becker, 84, of Follett, Texas passed away on April 21, 2012 in Grapevine, Texas. She was born on September 8, 1927 to Connor and Floy Gentry in Huckabay, Texas. Mildred was graduated from Van High School in 1944 and attended North Texas State University in 1945 where she also worked as a secretary at the Dallas YMCA. She received her BBA degree from The University of Texas in 1947 and 30 years later earned her teaching certificate from West Texas State University and Texas Tech University.

This began years of service and dedication to preserving and documenting the history of Follett and Lipscomb County, authoring and co-authoring numerous books on both the history of Lipscomb County and its families. She became involved with the creation of a Lipscomb County museum in 1990, became director in 1996, and was instrumental in opening the current Wolf Creek Heritage Museum in 2000, serving as director until 2009.

Mildred was also an educator in the Follett School system as she taught Kindergarten from 1969 to 1973, then high school business and journalism from 1973 to 1981.

Other activities she enjoyed were the 'Bid and Chatter Bridge Club", Cub Scouts and Eastern Star as well as being involved with numerous community events and organizations.
