Dec 20, 1927-Jan 17, 2008

Wife of Alvin Noah "Jack" Dickson
A celebration of the life of Jean Holt "Mama Jean" Dickson will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Englunds Chapel, with Rev. Gary Hughes and Andy Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Slaton's Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

She passed from this earthly life after a lengthy illness on Jan. 17, 2008. As she sits in the presence of her Lord and Savior, she is reunited with her beloved husband, Jack, her parents, her brother, and many dear friends and loved ones.

Jean was born in Slaton to Minnie (Harlan) and Roy "Petey" Holt on Dec. 20, 1927. She had an older brother, Jack Holt, who died at the age of fourteen. She graduated from Slaton High School in 1945 and from Texas Technological College in 1948, where she was a member of the Sans Souci Social Club. On June 14, 1949, Jean married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Dickson, who passed away in 1986. Jean worked for many years for Dr. Don Hatchett as a dental assistant, retiring in 1987. She was a lifelong resident of Slaton until 1988 when she moved to Lubbock to be closer to her daughter and grandson. She loved spending time with her family, doing crossword puzzles, and listening to all kinds of music. Until suffering a stroke, she played the piano and went to many shows at the Cactus Theater. She loved watching her grandson do just about anything and was an avid supporter of his sports activities.

Pallbearers will be: Jack Crawford, Jerry Crawford, Bill Dickson, Darrell Eastman, Bobby Joe Harlan, and Jerry Harlan.
