Mickey Arnold Counts, 60, passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, in Abilene. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at the Church of Christ in Rotan with Ted Posey and Wes Eastman officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan.

Born Dec. 15, 1949, in Rotan , Mickey was the son of the late Clarence "C. V." and Berthie Ann (Seaton) Counts. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. Mickey worked in law enforcement for 28 years and served as the Sheriff in Fisher County from 1977 to 1992, and from 2001 to present. He married Pamela (Steele) Blank Dec. 19, 2008, in Roby. Mickey was a member of the Roby Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and the Fisher County Historical Society. He enjoyed wood working, being outside, but most of all, Mickey loved his job.

Mickey is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister (Leatece Schooley).

Survivors include his wife Pamela Counts of Roby; two sons, Mike Counts of Snyder and Matt Counts of Sweetwater; one brother, Tim Counts and wife Nancy of Rotan; step-children, Dwalyn Smith of Sweetwater, Brittany Smith of Abilene and Aaron Smith of Roby; two brothers-in-law Reece Schooley of Rotan and Dwalyn Steele and wife Carolyn of Morgan City, LA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, L. C. (Corkey) and Betty Steele of Sweetwater; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan.
