SPEARMAN - George D. Steakley Jr., 99, died Saturday, April 9, 2005.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Westlawn Cemetery in Borger with the Rev. Jim Medley officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Steakley was born Oct. 14, 1905. He married Effie Mae Henderson.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Jackson of Spearman; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Mae Steakley, 65, of 419 Jackson, will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Orel Speed, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Simpson's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Steakley, a Borger resident since 1941, died Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in North Plains Hospital. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Steakley was a retired schoolteacher and was a member of the National Education Association, Classroom Teachers Association, Texas State Teachers Association, AAUW, Golden Rule Home Demonstration Club and the Creative Arts Club.
She is survived by her husband, George; one daughter, Mary Jo Jackson of Spearman; one brother, J.D. Henderson of Lubbock; two sisters, Mrs. George Mock, Amarillo and Mrs. Guy Adams of Quanah; and two grandchildren.
