SANTA FE - Mrs. Sharon D. Hedgpeth passed from this life Thursday evening, July 16, 2015, in Houston.
Born August 28, 1939 in Centralia, Illinois, Mrs. Hedgpeth had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1974. She grew up in Odessa where she met her husband, Roy, beginning a union that would last 54 years until his death in 2011. Mrs. Hedgpeth loved history, animals and going fishing and was always ready for a good debate. She started the League of Women Voters in Morgan City, LA. and had worked for many years as the secretary of the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo and Galveston County Extension Office, being instrumental in helping numerous 4-H clubs start throughout the county.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pauline Wooster; husband, Roy L. Hedgpeth; daughters, Casey Hedgpeth and Shelley Nebout.
Survivors include her daughters, Connie Snider and husband, Greg of Dickinson, Sheila Herrington of Santa Fe; son, William Hedgpeth and wife, Dee Ann of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Jennifer Gibson, Kelly Snider and her husband, Indika Ratnayake, Katie Benavides and husband Jerry, Erin Snider, Sara Snider, Parker Theriot, Heather Boff, Rachel Theriot, Garrett Hedgpeth, Christa Hedgpeth, Connor Herrington, Sean Hedgpeth; sister, Nancy Culver of Hitchcock; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Pastor C. Wayne Clement officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
