ROBY -- George Irvin Parker, Jr., 66, died Friday, April 16, 2004 in an Abilene nursing home. Services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Roby with Brothers Allan Cartrite, Jerry Vincent and Richard Melton officiating. Burial will be in the Roby Cemetery directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born June 3, 1937 in Fisher County, George was a son of the late George Irvin and Merry Leona (Holland) Parker. George was a lifetime resident of Fisher County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Roby. He worked at the gin and farmed. George also loved to hunt game and rattlesnakes, trap, raise horses and cattle. George was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Willardene and Maurcene Parker.
Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Kay Parker of Abilene; two sisters, Wanda McClendon of Abilene and Mildred Parker of Roby; one nephew and his wife, Randy and Jana Parker of Abilene; one niece and her husband, Tina and Ed Walker of Snyder; one great-nephew, Blake Parker of Abilene; and two great-nieces, Reanne Parker of Abilene and Kaylee Walker of Snyder.
