Sweetwater, Texas - Alvin Carroll Seaton, 73, died Sunday, August 26, 2007, at an Abilene hospital.
Graveside funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at Hobbs Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born February 22, 1934, in Rotan, Alvin was a son of the late John Lemuel and Annie Doris (Warren) Seaton. After graduating from Rotan High School in 1952, Alvin served his country in the Korean Conflict with the United States Army. After he returned from Korea, he moved to Levelland and worked as a surveyor. Later, he moved back to Rotan and worked in a lumber yard. He drove a school bus and worked in the maintenance department for Roby ISD until his retirement. Alvin had lived in Sweetwater for the past 10 years where he was very active playing his guitar with a band at numerous nursing homes and serving on the board of the Sweetwater VFW. He was also an avid arrowhead hunter. Alvin was a member of the Church of Christ in Rotan. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randall and Margaret Seaton of Snyder and Billy Joe Seaton of Sweetwater; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Jennette Seaton of Jayton and Johnny and Debbie Seaton of Rotan; a sister and brother-in-law, Gay and Connie Martin of Sweetwater; a granddaughter and her husband, Cordelia Shea and Kirk Hungate of Osage, Iowa; a great-granddaughter, Raegan Elise Hungate of Osage, Iowa; the mother of his sons, Carala Seaton; and others he greatly loved and adored: his special friend Sara Elam; Joyce, Auddie, Michael and Jesseica Smith; Brenda Gail, Kyle, Brent and Brooke Burleson; Kathy, Kirk, Keagan and Kelbie Herrley; Tommy, Aleica, Stacey and Brandon Elam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
