ROBERT JOSEPH ROGERS - Robert Joseph Rogers, 60, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007, at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2007, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston, with Fr. Bob Cooper of Louisiana, officiating. Entombment will follow services Friday at the Mausoleum of Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas. Mr. Rogers' family will be receiving friends for visitation at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening, February 1, 2007. Friends are invited to attend.

Robert was born on Galveston Island November 16, 1946. For many years he was employed for Houston Lighting & Power Company where his hard work and dedication to HL& P earned him a position with the company as Head Lineman.

Robert enjoyed fishing and hunting, spending time with family and friends and photography. A beautiful fish caught on some fishing excursion, perhaps maybe a very beautiful scenic photo opportunity caught when on a hunting trip or even just a smile of someone happy was but just a small part of the pictures captured by his camera. These memories and others are but just a few of those left behind within the hearts of his loving family and many friends. He will be remembered by all those that knew him and loved him.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert J. Rogers and Kathleen L. Rogers. He leaves behind many fond memories with his daughter, DeDe Morton and husband, Chris of Omega Bay; his only granddaughter, Madison Morton, also of Omega Bay; his sister, Cindy Rogers of Texas City, Texas and his special friend, Dony Harrison. Robert is also survived by numerous other relatives and very close friends. He will be deeply missed.
Pallbearers will be John Cotter, Bob Hayes, Gail Kilgore, Paul Mendoza, John Hanner and Werner Marquer. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Goff, Stewart Armstead, Scott Sharp, Chris Morton, Andrew Kanost, Dick Williams, Bob Lee, Pepe Aguirre and Terry Jo Johanson.

Mr. Rogers' family would like to take this opportunity to give a very special thank you to the entire medical staff and professionals of The University of Texas Medical Branch, 2nd and 4th Floors, ICU Units. Special thanks to nurses, Will, Maria, Kathy and Ron for the wonderful care and kindness shown our family during these difficult times. Your thoughtfulness is most appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Rogers' family is requesting that memorials in his memory be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, TX 78761, the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 129, Texas City, TX 77592-0129 or the Hospice Care Team, Inc. 1708 Amburn, Ste. C, Texas City, TX 77591-2436.
