LA MARQUE — Mrs. Jane "Janie" Carr, 64, of La Marque passed away on Sunday morning, December 27, 2009, at residence after her battle with cancer.

Janie was born in Hanford, California in April 12, 1945. She was raised in Olathe, Kansas and moved to La Marque in 1974. Janie graduated from Olathe High School (North) in 1963. Janie worked for Food King and Baywood Grocery until she retired, attended La Marque First Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma Nadine and father, Lois Edwards Mills.

Survivors are her husband of over 33 years, Jerry Carr of La Marque; brothers Charles and wife, Betty Jo, James and wife, Beverly; sister, Margie Ann Mills, all of Olathe, Kansas. She also has numerous nephews, nieces, other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, in the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor John Newton officiating. Entombment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 1 - 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.

SAN LEON, TEXAS - J.D. Carr, 61, of San Leon, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2004, in Channelview, Texas. He was born on March 19, 1942, in San Leon, Texas to William Lester and Viola Holly Carr. He worked in computer operations in the space industry for 20 years and he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

He is survived by his beloved wife Virginia Carr; his daughter, Terri Carr Doby; his son, Justin Daniel Carr; his sister, Ruby Keagan; his four brothers. Lester Carr, Donald Carr, Byron Carr, and Jerry Carr; and his grandchild, Keziah Carr.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Grace United Methodist Church in Texas City, Texas with Reverend Bonnie Eaves officiating.

Memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association, Bay Harbour United Methodist Church Building Fund in League City, and Grace United Methodist Church in Texas City.
