Floyd Weems, 79, longtime Fisher County farmer, died 5 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher County Hospital following a heart attack at his home early that morning. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 17, at Weathersbee Funeral Home Chapel in Rotan. Officiating was Rev. Fred Brown, pastor of the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Hobbs Cemetery.
Mr.Weems was born January 17, 1905 at Paris, TX. He was the son of the late Alvert and Hattie Mae Weems, and moved with his parents to Fisher County in 1907. He married Thelma Morris August 2, 1925 at Roby. She died Jan. 3, 1985.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Odessa Ware, July 5, 1983.
He is survived by a daughter, Wanda Carney of Hobbs, NM; 3 brothers, Claude and Lon of Rotan and Walter of Houston; 5 sisters, Bessie Burk of Lubbock; Eliza Shreve of Mineral Wells; Dottie Thompson of Sweetwater; Pearl Masters of Snyder and Clara Softly of Phoenix, AZ; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
