Billy Robert "Bill" Thomas
October 23, 1929 - May 29, 2018
Billy R. “Bill” Thomas, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018.
Funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Gose officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to Missions at Calvary Baptist Church, P.O Box 1026, Borger, Texas 79008.
Billy was born October 23, 1929 in Seminole County, Oklahoma to Barney and Nellie Melton Thomas. He graduated from Maud High School in 1947. Billy married Wilma McAtee on November 5, 1950 in Cromwell, Oklahoma. They moved to Borger from Tulsa, Oklahoma in May of 1952. He began working for Phillips Petroleum Company as a yardman and retired as a stillman in 1993.
He came to know Christ as a young boy in Oklahoma and was a 62-year member of Calvary Baptist Church. Bill worked with Little League Baseball and Pony League Baseball while his sons were young. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Virgil Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma of Borger; three sons, Randall Thomas and wife Shari of Greeley, Colorado, Sherman Thomas and wife Susan of Melissa, Texas, William Thomas and wife Helen of Borger; two daughters, Marilyn Clawson and husband Kendall of Borger, Barbara Mitchell and husband Richard of Borger; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and three brothers, Lloyd Thomas, Jim Thomas and Tom Thomas.
