Borger News Herald - November 9, 1972

A freak accident shortly before 11 a.m. today claimed the life of a 54-year-old Borger woman. Mrs. Edith N. Tilson, of 408 Caliche was pronounced dead at North Plains Hospital with head injuries she suffered in a fall.

Mrs. Tilson was reportedly returning home when she opened the screen door to her home, and the wind caught the door, knocking her off the porch. Ambulance attendants said the woman hit her head in the fall.

Winds today in Borger were reported to be around 30 miles-per-hour with gusts up to 40 miles-per-hour.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tilson are pending at Minton's Mortuary. She had lived in Borger since 1944, and was born Aug. 19, 1918 in Fannin County, Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Orval E. Tilson; three daughters, Marie Cox of Borger, Barbara Ann Cordray of Paige, Ariz., and Sharon K. Underwood of Minot, N.D.; one son, Charles Edward of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, W.H. Darwin of Wichita Falls; one sister, Lorene Magness of Sherman; her father, L. H. Darwin of Bonham; and 10 grandchildren.
