GALVESTON — Clarence J. Duhon, 93, of Clear Lake died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at The Pointe Rehab and Healthcare Center in Clear Lake. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Frank Fabj, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hitchcock under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., recited by Deacon John Pistone.

Clarence was born September 23, 1911 in Shell Beach, Louisiana to Ellis Duhon and Alfonsene GeoFro Duhon. He worked for 45 years as a pile driver with the Nunez Construction Company of Texas City. He narrowly survived the Texas City Explosion as he was working less than a mile from the explosion site. He worked to extend the seawall and on many notable projects in Galveston County. He was a Lifetime member of the Carpenter's Union, who enjoyed working. He loved to build things of wood for his family and friends and to work in his garden.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife of 74 years, Bessie Duhon, survivors include daughter, Linda Duhon of Houston, formerly of Galveston; son, Ronnie Duhon and wife Trudy of Houston; granddaughter, Heather Duhon-Brown and husband, Dwayne Brown, Sr. of Houston; grandson, Christopher Duhon of Dallas; great-granddaughter, Christine Marie Graf of Houston; great-grandson, Dwayne Anthony Brown, Jr. of Houston; sisters, Eula Mae Weekly of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, Epsile Fontenot and husband Milton of Welsh, Louisiana, and Bea Hebert of Sulfur, Louisiana; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be his grandson, Christopher M. Duhon, nephew, Whitney Pennock, Jesse L. Sandstrom, Jr., Jesse Sandstrom, III, Mike Clark and Randy Clark. Honorary pallbearers are Len Pennock, Kenneth Fontenot, Gerald Fontenot, and Robert Fontenot.

GALVESTON - Bessie Duhon, 85, of Galveston, passed away Monday, April 29, 2002, at Specialty Hospital in Webster. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Galveston, Father Frank Fabj officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock under the direction of Games Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home, Deacon John Pistone officiating.

Born November 16, 1916, in Cameron, Louisiana, Bessie was married to her loving husband, Clarence Duhon for 69 years. She lived for her family and her God.

Survivors include her husband Clarence Duhon, daughter Linda Duhon of Galveston, son Ronnie Duhon and wife Trudy of Houston, brother Wilber Duplantis and wife Jean of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; grandson Christopher Duhon of Dallas; granddaughter Heather Duhon Graf and husband John Paul of League City; great granddaughter Christine Marie Graf of League City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Duhon, Whitney Pennock, John
Graf, Jesse Sandstrum, Jr., Jesse Sandstrum, III, Whitney Duplanis, Mike Duplantis and Len Pennock.
