TEXAS CITY - Kyle Brandon Baird, 26, of Texas City passed away on Monday, August 23, 2004, in Lufkin, Texas. He was born January 8, 1978, in Texas City, Texas, a graduate of Texas City High School, attended Stephen F. Austin University where he played football and was a part of the 1999, Southland Conference Championship Team, a member of special teams unit that finished fifth in the nation in 1999, in net punting, he played baseball from little league to high school and American Legion, he was a avid golfer, he shared his mother's enthusiasm for music, and enjoyed the companionship of his two dogs, Halo and Khaki.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Virginia Berg and Ivern Baird.

Kyle is survived by his mother, Sharmaine Baird of Texas City; and his father, Ronnie Baird and wife, Becky of Lufkin; grandfather, Floyd Berg of Texas City; grandfather, Samuel Baird of Lufkin; aunt and uncle, Sherrie and Kirby Hawkins of Bastrop; aunt and uncle, Tim and Judy Baird of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; uncle Jim Baird of Atlanta, Georgia; numerous cousins and special friends Ashley Amato and Jayne McGee.

A visitation will be Wednesday, August 25, 2004, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. A graveside service will be Thursday, August 26, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas with Dr. Terry Ray officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Clark, Eric Owen, Jesse Sealbach, Chad Stanley, Ryan Smith, Shannon Yates, David Walden and SFA Lumberjack Football Senior Class of 1999.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kyle Baird Memorial Lumberjack Scholarship, c/o SFASU Alumni Association, P.O. Box 6096, Nacogdoches, Texas 75962
