Ramsey Searcy was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a life member of VFW Post 880 in Galveston, a life member of AMVETS Post 13 in Rye, and a member of American Legion Post 20, Elks Lodge 126, and past president of the Sons of Hermann Gulf Lodge 126, all in Galveston.

AUBREY FAYE SEARCY passed from this life Friday evening, June 21, 2013, at her home in Baytown.

Born January 28, 1929 in Lometa, Texas, Mrs. Searcy had been a resident of Baytown for the past 5 years, previously of Rye, Texas. She worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Galveston for 34 years. Aubrey was a member of the Pioneer Club, past president of the Sons of Hermann in Galveston and was a devoted wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ramsey Searcy; parents, Kyle Dewey and Dona Agnes (Bird) Johnston; brothers, Johnnie Johnston, Dewey Johnston; sisters, Margie Holifield and Kyleine Scales.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Kaye Searcy and Willie James of Highlands; brother, Leo Johnston and wife, Mamie of Santa Fe; sisters, Birdie Brantley of Baytown, Bertha "Bo" Lohec and husband, Ronald of Clear Lake; sister-in-law, Mary Johnston of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Reverend Ronald Macy officiating. Entombment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Frank, Jovani Frank, Freddy Green, Ted Green, Kyle Johnston and Johnny Rost. Honorary bearers will be Kyle Johnston, Jr., Chris Johnston and Kevin Holifield.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, (409) 925-3501.

A special thank you to Mary Seals, Elizabeth Davila, Ester Delrio, Norma Granados, Victoria Alfaro and especially her sister, Birdie Brantley and Shelley Lafour.

Memorials in the form of donations made be made in Mrs. Searcy's name to St. Jude's Children's Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or the Ronald McDonald House, Post Office Box 1045, Galveston, TX 77553.
