LA MARQUE — Desaw Vaughn, 84, loving husband, father, gramps and great-gramps, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Vaughn was born February 11, 1920, to Jessie and Laura Owen Vaughn, in Oakhurst, Texas. He was a resident of La Marque since 1955, and formerly of Galveston. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in WWII; member of the Carpenter's Local for 15 years and also worked at Matijevich Floor Company in Galveston for 10 years; a member of Local Union 526, Carpenter's and Floor Finisher's Union; and a member of Highland's Baptist Church in La Marque.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Edna Carter; three brothers, Claude Vaughn, Quinnen Vaughn and Nathan Vaughn; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Vaughn is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Bernice Weaver Vaughn of La Marque, Texas; two daughters, Linda Phillips and her husband Jim of Brazoria, Texas and Joan Ray and her husband Larry of Dickinson, Texas; son, Terry Vaughn and his wife Cindy of Dickinson, Texas; one sister, Effie Walker and her husband Dee of Huntsville, Texas; two brothers, Edward Vaughn and his wife Opal of Santa Fe, Texas and Lonnie Vaughn and his wife Elsie of Point Blank, Texas; seven grandchildren, Rodney Ray and his wife Debi, Tami Raymont, Nancy Reedy and her husband Kelly, Bradley Ray and his wife Brijette, Jesse Lee Vaughn and his wife Trish, Becky Phillips and Tessa Vaughn; and six great-grandchildren, Ashley Ann Vaughn, Lauren Raymont, Bryn Ray, Bria Ray, Rebecca Vaughn and Jakob Ray.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, January 21, 2005, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 22, 2005, at 12 noon, at Highlands Baptist Church in La Marque, with the Rev. Charles Robberts and Brother Ed Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Ray, Bradley Ray, Jesse Lee Vaughn, Kelly Reedy, Wayne Vaughn and Dennis Roznovsky.

Memorials may be sent to the Hospice Care Team, 1708 Amburn, Texas City, TX, 77591; or the Alzheimer's Association, 6161 Savoy Dr., Suite 240, Houston, TX, 77036; or Highlands Baptist Church, 2908 Cedar, La Marque, TX, 77568.

Bernice Weaver Vaughn, 90, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015. She was born Oct. 11, 1925 in Galveston, Texas to W.A. and Alice Schmidt Weaver. She married Desaw Vaughn and they were together for 62 years. She was a longtime resident of La Marque, Texas, where she had been an active member of Highland’s Baptist Church. Bernice worked as an Underwriter for American National Insurance Co. in Galveston and retired in 1989 after 25 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Francelene Hunt and Gladys Stout, and brother James F. Weaver, son-in-law Jim Phillips, and three grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Phillips, Joan Ray and husband Larry, son, Terry Vaughn and wife Cindy; seven grandchildren, Rodney Ray and wife Debi, Tami Crosland and husband Donny, Nancy Reedy and husband Kelly, Bradley Ray and fiancé Wendy Smith, Jesse Vaughn and wife Tammy, Becky Phillips, Tessa Goryance and husband John; ten great-grandchildren, Ashley Vaughn, Lauren Hart and husband Craig, Bryn Ray, Bria Ray, Rebecca Vaughn, Cory Ray, Austin Reedy, Amia Vaughn, Kamden Reedy, and Jordan Reedy; three great-great-grandchildren, Rodney Hall, Wyman Hall, and Gabriellah Hart. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday from 12 pm – 1 pm with Funeral immediately following at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas with Pastor David Fleming officiating. Entombment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rodney Ray, Kelly Reedy, Ted Bragg, Tim Vernon and Shane McGallian. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bradley Ray and Jesse Vaughn

Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of your choice.

The family would like to express special appreciation to Hallmark Hospice Care Team and to everyone at Regent Care Center in League City that helped care for Mother. God bless you all.
