She married the love of her life, Earl Caleb “Buck” Van Meter Jr., on February 19, 1941, at the home of her grandparents, James R. Robertson and Nellie Madge (Box) Robertson, McAdoo, Dickens County, Texas.

She loved to interact with her family, whether it was on a deer or elk hunting trip to Colorado, attending athletic games where kids, grand kids or great grand kids were playing, going with them to tractor pulls , having Easter egg hunts, or just keeping them at home where they could all enjoy the outdoors on the farm.
