GALVESTON — Doris Lorene "The Colonel" Cagnola, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away at her home on Sunday, May 18, 2008, after a lengthy illness.

Lorene was born January 10, 1923 in Lonoke, Arkansas. She was a life long resident of Galveston where she lived with her husband, Vincent, and together they raised three daughters.

Lorene was a dedicated mother and always was a major part of her daughters' lives. She taught "PE" at Island Elementary for 20 years and was past-president of local PTA's, City Council PTA's and other organizations that dealt with improving the schools or life for all children. Lorene was a life member of the Women Auxiliary of Elks Lodge #126 and one of her passions was working for the Elks Crippled Children's Hospital. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where she was very active with the Episcopal Youth Group.

Lorene's greatest love, however, was the love she had for her family. Her involvement in her children's lives indicated the care and love she had. She was the proud and loving mother of three daughters and sons-in-law, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Cagnola, two brothers, Emmitte and R.L. Chambers, two sons-in-law, Ed Lee and Lee Lovell and also one grandson, Norman Lee. Lorene is survived by her daughters, Sandra Schlagenhauf and husband, George of of Hitchcock, Leda Lee of La Marque and Cindy Morris of Rye, eight grandchildren, Vincent Collier of Austin, Greg and Kathy Schlagenhauf of Hitchcock, Randy Lee and wife, Kathy of Arvada, Colorado, Michael Lee of Hitchcock, Shane Lovell and wife, Tina of Rye, Farrah Morris and husband, Greg of San Leon and Teffany Lovell of Austin. Sharing in her loss, too, are Lorene's twelve great-grandchildren, Crystal Lee, Tasha Mustafa, Vincent and Jeremie Collier, Sylvia, Lee and Kaitlin Lovell, Laura and Rachel Warren, Hannah, Emma and Garrett Morris and Magdalena and Rebecca Lee and also one great-great-granddaughter, Izabella Mustafa. Lorene is also survived by her brother, Arthur Chambers and wife, Myra of Jefferson, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2008, at Grace Espiscopal Church, 1115 36th Street, Galveston, with Fr. Paul Wehner, officiating. Burial will follow services Friday at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas. Gathering for visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home in Galveston. Mrs. Cagnola's family will be receiving friends for visitation at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Lorene's grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Vincent Collier, Greg and Kathy Schlagenhauf, Randy and Michael Lee, Shane Lovell, Farrah Morris, Crystal Lee, Tasha Mustafa, Vincent Collier, II and Jeremie Collier.

Vincent 'Vince' Cagnola, 83, loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, passed away at his home Sunday, June 2, 2002, after a lengthy illness.

Vince was born April 27, 1919, in Hartford, Connecticut and was a lifelong resident of Galveston where he met and married Lorene and together they raised three daughters. Vince served his country during World War II in the Philippines and devoted 55 years of loyal service to Del Papa Distributing until his retirement. He was a life member of Elks Lodge No. 126 and one of his passions was working for the Elks crippled Children's
Hospital. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and was very active with the Episcopal Youth Group.

Vince's greatest love, however, was the love he had for his family, especially his wife of 62 years, Lorene. He was the proud and loving father of three daughters and sons-in-law, nine grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren.

Vince is preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret Cagnola and his three brothers, Al, Johnny and Ralph, two sons-in-law, Ed Lee and Lee Lovell and 1 grandson, Norman Lee.

Vince is survived by his wife, Doris Lorene Chambers, daughters Sandra Schlagenhauf and husband, George of
Hitchcock, Texas, Leda Lee of La Marque, Texas, and Cindy Morris of Spring, Texas. Sharing in his loss, also, are Vince's eight grandchildren, Vincent Collier of Austin, Greg and Kathy Schlagenhauf of Hitchcock, Randy Lee of Denver, Co., Michael Lee and wife, Staci of Webster, Shane Lovell and wife, Tina of Santa Fe, Farrah Morris and husband, Greg of Corpus Christi and Teffany Lovell of Austin, his ten great-grandchildren, Crystal Lee, Tasha, Vincent and Jeremie Collier, Sylvia, Lee and Kaitlin Lovell, Laura and Rachel Warren and Hannah Morris, numerous nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Cagnola will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Grace Episcopal Church, Galveston, with Fr. Rick Benson officiating. Burial will follow services Thursday at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Alta Loma, Texas. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in the Memorial Room
of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston. Mr. Cagnola's family will be receiving friends for visitation at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Vince's grandchildren, Vincent Collier, Greg Schlagenhauf, Randy Lee, .Michael Lee, Shane Lovell and Farrah Morris. Honorary Pallbearers will be greatgrandchildren, Crystal Lee, Tasha Collier and Vincent Collier and nephew, Michael Cagnola.
