SANTA FE - Mr. Johnny Gonzalez passed from this
life Sunday morning, August 31, 2003, in Port Arthur.
Born September 2, 1949, in Rio Hondo, Texas, Mr. Gonzalez had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1979, previously of Houston. He retired from Marathon Oil Co. as an instrument technician after 25 years and was presently employed with ACME Trucking Co. in Galveston. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the
Knights of Columbus Council #10393 and the John Mitchell Masonic Lodge #1401AF & AM, all in Hitchcock.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Gonzalez and a sister, Rose Gonzalez.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Yolanda
Gonzalez; sons and daughter-in-law, Orlando and Julie Gonzalez, of Santa Fe and Xavier Gonzalez, of
Chicago, Illinois; daughter and son-Ln-law, Rebecca "Becky" and Rico Garza, of Santa Fe; mother and stepfather, Audelia and Gabriel Perez, of Florida; sister, Mary Mata, of Florida; several half brothers and sisters and his special grandson, Keaton Lane Gonzalez.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Father John Kappe as Celebrant.
Entombment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Vigil services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday by Sister Mary Anne Hollmann, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral
Home.
Casketbearers will be Orlando Gonzalez, Xavier Gonzalez, Rico Garza, Ray Arnold, Raul Gomez and Santos Gomez.
Friends may call from 5 -8 p.m., Tuesday, at Hayes
Funeral Home.
