Family and Friends will celebrate the life of Mrs. Reva Lee Hurd on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church, 5917 Carver in Texas City with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM followed by Home Going Celebration at 2:00 PM. Pastor Jerry B. Lee Jr. will officiate. Entombment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

An active member of Greater Bell Zion for many years, she served as Usher President; and a member of Sweet Aster Court #327 Heroines of Jericho.

She leaves to cherish her memories a granddaughter Dylantra, great-granddaughter Mariah, four sister-in laws, two goddaughters Roslyn Crockett and Reva Phifer; a devoted nephew, Otis Brooks, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

LA MARQUE — Funeral services for Mr. John Hurd will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at the : Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque. The Rev. Jerry B. Lee Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.

Mr. Hurd was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Matthews, Texas, to Bill and Mattie Bankston Hurd. The eighth of 13 children born to this union. He was a longtime employee of Union Carbide n Texas City and was a member of Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church. He departed this life Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at
Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cornelia Hurd and JoAnna Mitchell and brother, Eddie Hurd. Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife, Reva Lee Hurd of La Marque; his son, John Lee Hurd; granddaughter, Delantra; Goddaughters, Rosalind Crockett, Patricia Wright and Reva Phifer; sisters, (twin sister), Mary Dickerson, of Houston, Early Flemon, of La Marque, Geneive Clark, of San Antonio, Lucille Anderson, Ruth Kirk and Merlee Hurd all of California; brothers, Sammie Hurd of Matthews, Texas and Bill Hurd, of Arizona; sister-in-law, Laura Hurd, of Matthews; David (Dora) Brooks, of Texas City,
A.C. (Patsy Ruth) Brooks and Odis (Ellen) Brooks all of Egypt; nephews and nieces, Floyd Mitchell, Maurice Kirks, Clyde Flemon, Jasper Jenkins and Roscoe Hurd; and a host of other family members and friends.
