Services for Tom Oats, 79, of Lubbock were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999 at Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Fullingim officiating and the Rev. Gary Hubbard, pastor, assisting.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

He died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Covenant Lakeside Medical Center.

He was born July 10, 1920, in Charleston, TX. He married Betty Noble on Oct. 19, 1967, in Lubbock. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He moved to Ralls in 1937 and then to Lubbock in 1985. He was a farmer. He served in the during World War II as a Tank Commander in Company F 32nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; one daughter, Kitti Lambert of Lubbock; a stepson, Dal Burrous of Lubbock; two stepdaughters, Beki Morris of Austin and Emily Castleman of Lafayette, La.; a brother, Scott of Mission; three sisters, Billie Tucker of Newark, Ohio, Sue Cobb of Bossier, La., and Pansy Server of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
