Novella Campbell Estep Turner was born in Spur, Texas, Dec. 14, 1914, to Harold and Selma (Richter) Campbell. She is the last surviving child of two brothers and three sisters. She graduated from Spur High School. She married Alton Estep in Spur. Shortly after, they moved to Idalou then Estacado. She died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011.

She owned the Estacado store and helped Alton farm. She loved to grow vegetables and gave away as much as she canned. Alton preceded her in death July 3, 1980. She then moved to Idalou. She married Carroll Turner in 1989. He preceded her in death in 1998. She then moved to Ventura Place, Autumn House, Grand Court and Hospitality House. She loved to crochet. When she was 90, she crocheted lap robes for the "old people" in the nursing homes. She loved to play Skip-Bo, dominoes, 42, 88, and Bingo. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Idalou, Dorcus Sunday School Class, Idalou Senior Citizens and Llano Estacado Emmaus Community.

She was also preceded in death by her sons, Ronald Neil and Gail.

Nanny, as she was called by her family, loved her family and friends dearly. She was the ideal Proverbs 31 woman.

She is survived by her son, Phillip Estep (Brenda) of Ralls; one daughter, Sherlyn Becton (Jim) of Idalou; five grandchildren, Jase Estep of Lubbock, Sid Estep of Lubbock, DeJee Estep of Lubbock, Kim Ivie (Johnny) of Lubbock and Brian Becton (Ashley) of Lubbock; one step-granddaughter, Becca Becton of Wolfforth; eight great-grandchildren, Noah and Hayden Ivie of Lubbock, Kyleigh and Kynslie Becton of Lubbock, Brooke Estep, Ellie Byrne of Lubbock and Peyton Smith of Post, and Alexie Estep; two step-grandchildren, Mickey Beshirs (Kassi) of Matador and Misty Smith (Weldon) of Post; and three step-great-grandchildren, Turner Becton and Trista Becton of Wolfforth, Kade Smith of Post, and Kyler and Rylynn Beshirs of Matador; and special friends, Marie Harris of Idalou and Carl Gordon of Lubbock.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, in the Lorenzo Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home.
