RALLS-Garl Tyer of Amarillo, Texas, died on Aug. 18, 2012. Memorial service will be held in Ralls, Texas, Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, in the Ralls Cemetery Chapel at 10 a.m. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home. Garl was born to Charlie and Juanita Travis Tyer Jan. 13, 1934. He graduated from Ralls High School and attended Abilene Christian University. He transferred to Texas Technological College, where he earned a BBA in accounting in 1955. In 1960, he became a certified public accountant and maintained that certification for 51 years. He served as president and CEO, executive vice-president, and financial adviser, managing corporate operations in a variety of settings. He was skilled in sales, marketing, stockholder relations, asset and materials management, financial and investment planning, employment and labor relations and benefits, and operations and management. He was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo, Texas. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Texas Tech Alumni Association, American Trucking Association, a NAFC board member, past national president of American Institute of C.P.A.'s, National Association of Accountants, Texas Society of C.P.A's and the Tampa chapter of S.C.O.R.E. (the national nonprofit dedicated to helping small businesses). Garl pursued jogging, biking, tennis and golf, and participated in numerous amateur competitions. He loved children and participated as coach and manager for various youth sports teams. He was an avid sports fan. Some of his favorite teams were: Texas Rangers Baseball, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Buccaneers, and the Tampa Bay Stingrays. His hobbies were pursued as diligently as his professional responsibilities. He lived in Ralls, Texas, for 18 years; Lubbock, Texas for 8-10 years; Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas, area for 20 years; other large metropolitan areas as his profession demanded; and 21 years in Tampa, Fla. He lived the last two years in Amarillo, Texas.

Garl was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Juanita Tyer; wife, Gwen Gale Tyer; and a granddaughter, Mary Kate Tyer. He is survived by his son, Logan Tyer and wife Caren of Benbrook, Texas; a daughter, Kim Tyer of Fort Worth, Texas; two granddaughters, Tiffany Tyer and Brittany Tyer, both of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Travis Tyer and wife Lois of Springfield, Ill.; a sister, Bettye Robinett and husband Vernon of Amarillo, Texas; 10 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and close friends.
