Rosary for Ann Elizabeth Ehler, 89, of Slaton will be 7 p.m. today, Aug. 31, 2011, in Englunds Chapel with Deacon Darris Linder officiating.
Celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, in Slaton's Saint Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. Nicolas Rendon, and Father Joe James officiating. Internment will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Ann was born April 7, 1922, in Winterberg, Germany. She came to America through Ellis Island with her family at the age of five. They settled in Chicago before moving to the Lubbock area in 1936 when she was 14.
Ann Denzer married Edgar Ehler on Nov. 4, 1941, in Slaton's Saint Joseph Catholic Church. They started farming the next day and making a home together. Ann and Edgar retired in 1982.
Edgar preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1996. A daughter, Patricia Ann Ehler, also preceded her in death in 1943.
She was an active member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society.
Her survivors include her daughters, Jane (Bill) Bednarz, and Shirley (Steve) Tucker, all of Slaton; sons, David (Fran) Ehler, Kenneth (Sandra) Ehler, and Michael (Suzanne), all of Lubbock; a sister, Nell Hlavaty, and brother, Walter Denzer, both of Slaton; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
