Funeral services for Mary Jane Farley, 84, of Slaton will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 in Slaton's First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

Mrs. Farley passed from this life, Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007. She was born May 28, 1922 in Branson, Colo. She had moved to Texas as a child. She moved frequently with her father being a Methodist minister and had lived in Brownfield, Tahoka, Matador and Claude. Mary Jane graduated from Claude High School in 1938, West Texas State in 1942 with a BA in Music and from Texas Tech in 1952 with a BA degree in Business Administration in Finance. She had taught elementary school in Lubbock.

She married Ray T. Farley in 1957 in Lubbock at the First United Methodist Church. She moved to Slaton shortly after their marriage. Ray preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 2002.

Mary Jane was an active and faithful member of Slaton's First United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, President of UMW, as a delegate to the FUMC annual conference and chairman of the Mission Committee. She was also active in the Cub Scouts serving as den Mother and pack leader and civic leader in the Kiwanas Club. She was an active organizer of Slaton's Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her son, Quinton of Plano; sister, Miriam Platt of Bowling Green, Ky.; and care givers, Rosa Rocha and Cindy Espinosa both of Slaton.
