Final rites for Joe Henry Whitmire, 78, of Sanford, are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday from Minton Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Alvin Taylor of Amarillo will officiate.

Interment in Westlawn Memorial Park will be directed by Minton Mortuary.

Casketbearers are Fred Munfrada, Bob Neeley, Jeff Porter, Bryant Robertson, David Neeley, C.W. Spivey.

Whitmire died Wednesday in North Plains Hospital. He was a United Carbon Company retired employee, and a longtime Sanford resident.

Surviving are the widow; three sons, J.W. and J.G. of Sanford, M.J. of Lubbock; daughter, Mrs. Joyce Brasswell of Amarillo.

Three brothers, Elmer and Eddie of Quanah, Jesse of Pampa and stepbrother George Bennett of Fayetteville, Ark.; four sisters, Mrs. Mae Robinson of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Ed Wenkley of Colorado, Mrs. Roszene Willingham of Guymon, Okla., Mrs. Lisle Willingham, Enid, Okla.; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. M[o]llie Lou Whitmire, 78, are at 10 a.m. from Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park.

The Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, will officiate.

Mrs. Whitmire died Saturday in Magic Plains Nursing Home. She had been a Sanford resident 44 years and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, James of Sanford, Marvin of Lubbock; daughter, Mrs. Joyce Braswell, Amarillo; two sisters, Mrs. Exie Miller, Dalhart, Mrs. Virgie Stewart of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
