Graveside services for Earl C. Abell, 83, of Ralls will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at the Ralls Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Reed-Farris officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
He died Dec. 15, 2004 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Sept. 9, 1921 in Palo Pinto County, Texas to Roy R. and Nena (Scott) Abell. He moved from Lorenzo to Ralls in 1936 and was a 1939 graduate of Ralls High School. On July 1, 1944 he married Neva Cypert in Ralls, Texas.

He was a member of the Ralls First United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. Earl C. was a farmer and co-owner and operator of Abell-Prewitt Implement in Ralls from 1950 to 1984. He was a charter member of the Ralls Lions Club and member of the Ralls Jaycees, the Ralls City Council, and the Emma Masonic Lodge #931 where he was a 32nd degree mason. Earl C. was an avid golfer and fisherman. He served his country in the Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Neva, of Ralls; two daughters, Pam Taylor and her companion Jim McDuff of Ralls and Dixie and her husband Ken Welch of Baird; seven grandchildren, Shane Martin, Darcy Martin, Tara Taylor Pierce, Alexa Taylor, Amy Welch King and her husband Josh, Kelly Welch and Katy Welch; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Pierce, Ian Martin and Hannah King.

The family will receive friends at Ralls First United Methodist Church from 1 to 3 p.m. today.
