Virginia O'Dean Winegar
September 11, 1923 - December 27, 2017

Virginia O'Dean Winegar of Borger passed peacefully into her eternal home December 27, 2017. The service will be 2:00 p.m. at Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on December 29th at the funeral home.

Virginia was born in Searcy, Arkansas on September 11, 1923 to Otha and Mary Baker. She grew up in Searcy and married R. L. Winegar in 1941 and they moved to Borger that same year. They had three sons, Tom, Jerry and Robert. Virginia worked for the City of Borger for many years and was very involved in several civic and social organizations. She retired in 1988 and she and R. L. traveled to several places across the country, especially enjoying many fishing trips to Rockport, TX. until his passing in 2000. Virginia was an amazing conversationalist and could talk to anyone about anything. She especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren about all their activities. She also was a voracious reader, always frequenting the library and having a stack of books by her bedside.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of nearly 60 years, R.L. Winegar and her brother Joe Baker.

She is survived by her three sons, Tom Winegar and wife, LouAnn of Borger, Jerry Winegar and wife, Priscilla of Borger, and Robert Winegar and wife, Debbie of Midland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tommy Winegar, Shelley Fraley, Leesa Foster, Denise Mongold, Michael Winegar, Scott Winegar and Casey Winegar, twelve great grandchildren and her brother Sam Baker and wife, Johna of Searcy, AR. in addition to several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th St., Medical Plz, Ste. 100, Amarillo, TX. 79106 or a favorite charity.
