Graveside services for J. R. "Dead Eye" Anstead will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2007 in the Ralls Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
J. R. passed away Monday, April 16, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born Sept. 20, 1918 in Ralls to the late Henry and Ollie (Stoker) Anstead. On Sept. 20, 1941 he married Maurine Burrous.
She preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 1989.
A lifelong resident of Ralls he was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church and the Ralls Jaycees. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Lorenzo Country Club. "Dead Eye" was also an avid hunter. He was quite the entertainer and loved to entertain his nieces and nephews, and they in turn loved to entertain him. "Dead Eye" enjoyed traveling and met many friends along the way.
Survivors include three brothers, Wiley of Ralls, Urlic of Abilene, Leonard of Athens; a sister, Oleta Lorenzen of Ralls; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to the Ralls Cemetery Chapel Fund 808 Ave. I Ralls, Texas 79357.
