Services for JoAnn Ruth Yates, eight-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary L. Yates, were held at 2 p.m. today in Gateway Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Hobson, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Alexander-Simpson Funeral Directors.
The youth died Sunday afternoon from a gunshot wound suffered as she played in her home. She was born May 20, 1969 in Fort Carson, Colo.
In addition to her parents she is survived by a sister, one brother, and her grandparents.
The family requests memorials be in the form of contributions to birth defects.
