*Obituary
Services for J.R. Arthur, 66, of 5 S. Lemp, Phillips, a longtime Phillips resident, were held at 4 p.m. today in First Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Dr. Robert Presnall, pastor, officiated.
Graveside Masonic rites were held at Highland Park Cemetery. Burial was by Alexander Funeral Directors.
A native of Erath County, Tx., Mr. Arthur was born Sept. 11, 1914. He was married to Malnor Estes Sept. 1, 1935, in Ralls, Tex. He had been a resident of Phillips for 39 years, coming here from Wichita Falls.
He was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge.
He was an operator for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1977.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Robin of Borger; one daughters, Mrs. Sue Lusk of Borger; four brothers, Ben S. of Gruver, Phillip E. of Borger, Uel and A.R., both of Ralls; four sisters, Mrs. Morene Phipps of Stephenville, Mrs. Oleta Moore of Ralls, Mrs. Zora Kretzer and Mrs. Juanita Laskey, both of San Antonio; and two grandchildren.
