Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in South Georgia Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger at 2 p.m. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Buddy was born May 21, 1919, in Violet Hill, Ark. He lived in the hills of Arkansas in his youth. He joined the CCC when he was 16 years old. He moved to Borger in 1935. He married Billie Milligan in Borger in 1941. He served in the Navy in World War II. Buddy worked as a body and fender man for Joy Motor Co. until its closure. He moved to Amarillo at that time and began working as a handyman, landscaper, delivery man and all round helper to many people. He undertook many jobs at South Georgia Church of the Nazarene. He was greeter, head usher, custodian, yard man, financial adviser and hospital visitor.

Buddy was a collector, always seeing the hidden value in the smallest of things. He spent the last 20 years helping others with anything that was needed. He loved his family, his church and his country.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Vesta Barnard, Ersy Moats and Faye Moats; and a brother, Ray Barnes.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dale Ballard and wife Betty of Midland; a daughter, Sherry Gill and husband Jim of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Bryan Ballard of Midland, Becky Rejon and husband Mike of Midland, Cody Gill of Amarillo, and Erica Templeton and husband Matt of Earth; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jared and Jase Rejon; and two half-brothers, Bill Ballard of Benton, Ark., and L.B.
