Services for Charles G. Barkley, 55, of 1410 Boyd, were at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church.

The Rev. Paul Taylor, pastor, officiated.

Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery by Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.

Mr. Barkley died Monday afternoon south of Borger. He was a resident of Borger for 43 years.

He was a dirt contractor and a member of the First Baptist Church. He served in World War II. He was in the battle of Iwo Jima and he participated in the flag raising at Mt. Sura Bachi. Mr. Barkley was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9314 and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; two brothers, Joe and Earl Barkley, both of Borger; one sister, Mrs. Louise Herdman of Brownwood.
