Walter P. Benningfield, 64, a resident of this area for the past five years, who resided at 211 W. First, died at the North Plains Hospital this morning at 7:45.

Mr. Benningfield was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was formerly employed at the News-Herald.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Essie Benningfield; two daughters, Miss Alice Benningfield and Mrs. Howard Weed of Philview Camp; two sons, Robert and Eugene, both of Borger; two brothers, Tom Benninfield [sic], Clarksville, Texas and Clarence Benningfield, of California; and one sister, Mrs. Alice Well, Godly, Texas, and one grandchild.

The body is resting at the Blackburn-Shaw-Brown Funeral home pending competion [sic] of funeral arrangements.

Last rites for Walter P. Benningfield, 64, of 211 West 1st St., Borger, who died at North Plains hospital Friday morning will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Assembly of God church, with the Pastor, H.H. Woods officiating.

Graveside services in Highland Park cemetery will be under the auspices of Borger Odd Fellow Lodge No. 94 of which Mr. Benningfield was a member. Interment will be under the direction of Blackburn-Shaw-Brown.

Essie A. Benningfield, 88, 207 Hickory, Borger, died Wednesday in Borger Nursing Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God with Rev. Calvin Newton, Pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery, under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

A housewife, Benningfield was a native of Benton County, Missouri and a Borger resident since 1945.

She was a member of First Assembly of God in Borger.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Zella Weed of Borger, Mrs. Alice Brister of Wichita Falls; two sons, Robert Benningfield of Waxahachie, Thomas Eugene Benningfield of Early; one brother, Jack Weaver of Hereford; three sisters, Mrs. Beth Knauf of Clinton, Okla., Mrs. June Miller of Hayward, Calif., Mrs. Marquite Knoll of Boerne; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Casket bearers were Tommy Simmons, Bobby Lee, C.A. Mason, C.O. Smith, Harold Maxwell and Dean Williams.
