Borger News Herald - October 13, 1949

Joe Bishop, 50, Hackberry street, Weatherly lease, died at 8 a.m. yesterday after a heart attack at the Cactus plant, Dumas.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joe Bishop; four daughters, Mrs. Juanita Hodges, Mrs. Betty Jo Hodges, Miss Helen Bishop and Miss Shirley Ann Bishop, all of Borger; two sons, Billy Bishop of Denton, and Jimmy Bishop of Borger; one sister, Mrs. Joe Stegall of Delhi, La.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist church with the Rev. Paul Cullen officiating. There will be Masonic graveside rites in Highland Park cemetery, under the direction of the Minton Funeral Home.

Louise McDougle Bishop, 92, died Thursday, April 1, in Amarillo, Texas.

Services were held at 1:00 pm on Saturday April 3, in Borger at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gregg Simmons officiating. Interment was at Eastlawn Garden at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger, Texas.

Mrs. Bishop bad been a Borger resident since 1929. She was born in Union Parish in Louisiana. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bishop, in 1949, one son, Bill Bishop and one daughter, Betty Hodges.

Survivors include her son, James Bishop of West Monroe, La., three daughters, Juanita Hodges of Amarillo, Texas, Shirley Bishop of West Monroe, La. and Helen Jowers of Borger, Tx.; one sister, Jessie Bryan of Bernice, La.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Leon Pepper, Don Hipp, John Bayless, and Don Ormson.
