PAMPA - Funeral services for James M. "Rowdy" Bowers, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Pfeil, pastor of the Christian Center in Wheeler, officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Mr. Bowers died Thursday, Aug. 25, 1993 in Pampa.
He was born Jan. 26, 1929 in Pampa and was a lifetime resident. He was an attorney, and received a BBA degree from West Texas State University in Canyon and a doctorate of jurispurdence [sic] from the University of Texas at Austin.
He was a member of the University of Texas Law School Association, and the Texas Legal Fraternity, Texas University Chapter. He was a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Gray County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
Mr. Bowers was a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF&AM, the El Paso Consistory, and the Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo, and served as Pampa City Judge for several years.
He served in the U.S. Army after World War II.
He married Lauren Holcomb, Feb. 9, 1993.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Doyle Bowers of Pampa; and Darrell Bowers of Fort Worth; two stepsons, Shane Brown and Steven Brown, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Cecil "Sonny" Bowers and David Bowers, both of Pampa; and Kenneth Bowers of McLean; a sister, Bennie Pfeil of Amarillo; and four grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to the James M. "Rowdy" Bowers Scholarship Fund, c/o First National Bank of Pampa, 100 N. Cuyler, Pampa, Texas 79065.
