During World War II he served as a Lt. Sr. Grade with the U.S. Navy and was attached to the sixth Marine Division during the Okinawa campaign.

Services are pending for Dr. Claunch G. Brindley, 49-year-old Borger physician who died Wednesday afternoon in Methodist Hospital, Houston, after a lingering illness. Dr. Brindley had practiced medicine in Borger since 1951.

The body is being returned to Borger, and Ed Brown, Funeral Director, is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Cecile, of the home, 1001 Keith; three sons, Bethea Wright Brindley, a student at the University of Texas, and Paul Claunch and Mace Lane, who reside in Houston; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Brindley Scott of Harlingen; a brother; Mace Brindley of Oakdale, Louisiana; and two sisters, Mrs. Isaac Corns of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Robert Myers of Oakdale.

A native of Maypearl, Texas, Dr. Brindley received his early education at Harlingen and attended Temple Junior College.

He took his pre-medical work at the University of Texas and received his MD degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston.

After serving an internship in Charleston, S.C., Dr. Brindley did post graduate work at Scott-White Hospital in Temple where he was a resident physician in surgery and diseases of women.

He also assisted his uncle, Dr. G.V. Brindley, Sr., former president of the Texas Medical Association.

He practiced for five years in Cameron before moving to Kingsville where he organized the Brindley Clinic. He also served as chief surgeon of the Gulf Coast Lines Railroad and chief physician for the Texas College of Arts and Industries and the King Ranch.

In 1950 he moved to Houston where he practiced at Jefferson Davis Hospital and Medical Center in Houston. In 1951 he moved to Borger.

During World War II he served as a Lt. Sr. Grade with the U.S. Navy and was attached to the sixth Marine Division during the Okinawa campaign.

While in Borger he served on the board of stewards of the Fist Methodist Church and was a member of the Lions Club.

The body will be returned to Borger Thursday and Ed Brown funeral directors will be in charge of arrangements.
