Waynita Louise Locke Briscoe
Waynita, 81, on July 14, 2015 , went to be with God and loved ones who have gone before her. She was born to Wayne and Vineta Locke on May 4, 1934 in Plainview, Texas. She was a life long resident of Borger, Texas. Waynita was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a Christian Soldier whose love for Christ was exemplified in her daily life. Her passion for singing began at age 4 when she would run to her beloved Father's side every time he played the piano so she could sing along. Through the years, the two of them would perform together , time and time again, at dances and family gatherings. A graduate of Borger High School, Waynita was active in the choir and held leading roles in High School musical productions. Waynita married Jimmie Briscoe on June 7th, 1952. They were blessed with 3 children. She enjoyed cooking and singing for her family and the two often went hand in hand. While working in the house, her beautiful voice would echo from room to room. Waynita also had a great love for the sport of tennis. She spent many days on the tennis court with friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie, of 50 years, her parents and her niece, Sheila Locke Watson. She is survived by her children: a son, Mark and wife Tina Briscoe of Borger; two daughters: Lanay Trout of Lubbock and Leigh Ann Hutton of Borger; six grandchildren: Tarah Trout, Tohi Trout, Lyndal Jones and Taylor Hutton all of Lubbock, Lauren Hays of Borger and Marcus Briscoe of Amarillo; nine great -grandchildren; and one brother, Don and wife Sue Locke of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; two sisters-in-law: Loretta Ford and Mary Ruth Gurley; a brother- in-law, Bill and wife Liz Briscoe and several nieces and nephews. Sunrise graveside services were held on July 15, 2015 at Highland Park Cemetery, Borger.
