*Obituary
BORGER - Mary Martin Brooks, 97, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Terry, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Garden at Highland Park Cemetery by Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Owenton, Ky., and had lived in Borger since 1927. She graduated from William Woods College at Fulton, Mo. She was a volunteer at the hospital and assistant chairman for the Red Cross staff.
She was a charter member of the Paragon Study Club and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She sponsored the Jane Phillips Sorority and was a member of the Tri-City community Concert Association, the Amarillo Symphony, the Amarillo Art Center and the Borger Federate Music Club.
Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Covenant Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. W.W. Brooks; and by two sons, William Martin "Bill" Brooks and Mike Brooks.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Ferguson of Whitesboro; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
